“Best” child-resistant packaging isn’t one product. It’s a fit question. The right format depends on what you’re packaging, how it’s dosed or consumed, and how much of your brand needs to show up on the shelf.

Start With Certification, Not Looks

A container that “looks” child-resistant but hasn’t been independently tested to 16 CFR 1700.20 isn’t compliant, and the closure needs to reseal every time it’s closed, not just pass the test once out of the box. That single detail, resealing on every use versus only the first, is where a lot of packaging quietly falls out of compliance the moment a budtender or customer opens it.

Did You Know? Roughly one in three CR compliance failures traces back to a closure that passed lab testing once but doesn’t hold up after repeated real-world use. Certification on day one isn’t the same as compliance on day one hundred.

Match the Format to the Product

Flower and pre-rolls generally do best in Aluminum Tins or CR Pouches & Mylar Bags, they’re reclosable, opaque, and durable enough for retail handling.

Concentrates and oils need a format that controls both compliance and precision. The Dab Dose, our twist-metered CR applicator, replaces the plunger syringes that clog or over-dispense, giving repeatable, measured output batch after batch.

Edibles and multi-unit products usually need exit packaging with clear per-unit dosing visibility, which is where Glass Bottles & Jars or Paper Packaging tend to outperform simple pouches.

Packaging Tip: If you’re selling more than one product type, resist the urge to force everything into a single format. A tin that’s perfect for pre-rolls is the wrong call for a metered concentrate. Match the mechanism to the product, not the other way around.

Customization Is Where It Becomes Yours

Once the format is right, customization is what makes it yours: colors, finishes, printing, and labeling that carry your brand instead of a generic supplier’s. That’s where working with a supplier that has an in-house design team matters. You’re not choosing between “compliant” and “on-brand.” You get both from the same production run.
